After much thought and consideration to our project, I’ve
decided to design this lesson from the practicum teachers perspective as oppose
to the central office to administrative perspective. When I reflect on the question posed by
Ritchhart, Morrison, & Church, I want my learners, which will be the
students, to understand what’s needed to truly achieve and get the maximum experience
from being in the practicum course. I
want to create a lesson where there is problem solving, decision making,
interpreting information, observing and testing the hypothesis, etc. I want there to be full on engagement of the
group. While reflecting on what I want
out of this lesson, below are a few instructional goals I came up with. I know I haven’t exhausted the list but these
were the main goals.
- Will identify state requirements of a practicum course
- Will discuss best practices to maximize the practicum experience
- Will produce a flow chart of the classroom requirements prior to practicum experience
- Will discuss current constraints from previous students with the practicum courses
- Will demonstrate the best outcomes using scenarios of example issues with practicum experiences
- Will work in groups to produce a plan of action for issues that arise that will be modeled to classmates
- Will discuss in groups how transportation and scheduling affect the practicum experience
