Due to me being a CTE educator, I always try to incorporate and model technology in professional developments so teachers can utilize my methods in the classroom. I am planning to use several media formats for my project design. Teacher Dell, iMacs or iPad devices, projector, and videos will be the types of digital media. Looking specifically at my project design, I would look at our teacher PC’s as being the most important due to the engagement.
The affordances of PC’s are extremely common in today’s choices of technologies for learning. PC’s are used for completing online assignments, searching for information, reading information, organizing information, analyzing data or information, writing, reporting, engaging in peer tutoring, participating in games, sharing learning resources with others, engaging in online discussion or email, engaging in social chat online, reading online news, blogging, downloading music MP3 or engaging in online games just to name a few. And this list goes on…
For my project, the teachers in this professional development will be mostly use their devices to access the web 2.0 technology EdPuzzle for group activities. EdPuzzle will be used to help the teachers think and reflect as we move through the professional development. EdPuzzle is a free online learning resource that provides interactive video tools and ready-to-use video lessons to engage learners. The purpose behind the videos is to increase student engagement, deepen understanding of the context, allow for differentiation, save time, and be easily accessible. It gives the users a chance to discover, customize, share, and track lessons/data with one another as well.
The length of the professional development could be a variety of one full day workshop or a 5-day workshop. It will depend on if it will be use on a professional development day, part of a professional development day or a required afterschool meeting.
